Work done during a 2 months residency at Sculpture Space. Utica, NY.

The work done in Sculpture Space continued my approach to ritual objects, its relation with the artistic object and the process that follows from its origin, construction and symbolic relation within its community.
I chose certain elements characteristic of the Utica area, analyzing its form and matter in relation to its symbolic representation within nature, this being an ambiguous correspondence in between production, digestion and waste of certain mass produced objects and its drift within consumer culture. My interest was focused on recovering these forms from the surroundings and generating new ritual objects from waste materials and other objects considered culturally as "bad taste" or best case scenario, as camp.
The purpose was to discover how art can -or maybe not - add new value to these considered disposable objects either because of its uselessness or socio-aesthetic malformations.
